    If you drink a diet soda from time to time, there is no need to panic. Moderation is what has gotten you, and you will always be your best way to manage your diet. But if you use artificial sweeteners every day, it might be time to start looking into some better liquid replenishment options.

    There are no negatives to plain or sparkling water with fresh fruit, making it a refreshing and guilt-free substitution. If flavor and fizz are still on your wish list, the beverage industry is swingin’ (and foamy!) to a much higher standard. There is an increasing interest in functional beverages containing prebiotic fiber and plants. These healthier options offer the fizz you’re craving while actually aiding your gut health.

    Diet drinks provide a very handy way to replace liquid calories and control acute sugar consumption. But historically, there are documented cardiovascular and metabolic risks of long-term use of artificial sweeteners.
